Divers Race To Save The Lives Of Four Whale Sharks

Divers Race To Save Four Whale Sharks Tangled In Fishing Nets

A group of divers came across four whale sharks off the coast of Indonesia struggling to free themselves from fishing nets they became tangled in while hunting for food.  The video will literally fill your heart with joy as they one by one are released from the fishing net and glide through the water into the abyss of the ocean.

But it leaves me thinking...

We all have come across a video or two on our Facebook feeds of the helpless sea animals swimming up to a group of divers asking for help.  Sometimes the sea animals are caught in nets and other times they have something else wrong with them like a straw stuck up their nose like the poor sea turtle video below.

But think about that for a second.  If you were out swimming and found yourself in trouble in deep water, would you swim your way over to a group of Dolphin pods you spotted just a few feet away and ask for help?  You're damn right because Dolphins are amazing!  Haven't you watched flipper?

In all honesty, these videos are just sad to watch.  Thinking about how many animals out there die meaningless deaths while tangled in loose fishing nets or inhaling our garbage we are dumping into the ocean.  We need to do something about this and do something about this now.
