Socinski specializes in thoracic malignancies, including small cell and non-small cell lung cancers and mesothelioma. He has extensive experience in research and clinical trials and has spent more than 20 years in academia.Dr. Socinski brings decades of experience in patient care, research and leadership to the Cancer Institute,” Socinski most recently served in various roles at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, including professor of medicine and cardiothoracic surgery, and director of the lung cancer section at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Socinski previously served in academic roles at the University of North Carolina Department of Medicine and the University of Vermont. He graduated from the University of Vermont and completed an internship, residency, and fellowship at Harvard Medical School, and also a fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
