Trump Administration To Reverse Ban On African Elephant Trophies

According to a Wednesday report, Donald Trump’s administration is planning to reverse a Barack Obama-era ban on the importation of elephant trophies from Zimbabwe and Zambia to the U.S. an official from the Fish and Wildlife service originally confirmed the proposed rule change. The change is intended to reflect new information from in-country officials that “hunting actually benefits conservation for that species.” initial announcements from the Department of Interior say there isn’t research to support that view. However, the department touted economic benefits resulting from U.S. citizens traveling to foreign nations to hunt.
