Coronavirus: Orange County Animal Services Needs Foster & Adoptive Parents

In the event that people get too ill or are laid off in the future, Manager Diane Summers says Orange County Animal Services has already waived adoption fees for cats and dogs. They're prepared for an increase in surrenders.

Even though they're currently looking for foster and adoptive parents, non-essential visits to the shelter are being curbed as coronavirus cases increase nationally.

Summers says since kitten season in Florida begins in the spring, there’s already a need for foster parents this time of year. The shelter received over 70 drop-offs last weekend.

"The foster parent just has to provide their time and love. One of the best things about our program is that we provide the food, any necessary medication."
