A new study found that forcing a smile while at work, might lead to making bad decisions after work.
The study looked at jobs where people have to interact with the general public. Like nurses, teachers, and fast food workers. And it found that people who have to smile a lot... or suppress negative emotions... tend to drink more after their shift ends.
It's actually an interesting concept... the idea is that you only have so much self-control each day... and if you waste it by pretending to be happy at work, you are all out of self-control when work is over... making it hard to say no to the drinks... If this is true, I feel like I run out of self-control by around 10am everyday... I need to find a way to refill my self-control tanks!
