Florida Republicans completed a sweep of the state's Cabinet races Tuesday, with Attorney General James Uthmeier, Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson each winning election to statewide office.
Uthmeier secured his first full term as Florida's attorney general after defeating Democratic challenger Jose Javier Rodriguez. Appointed to the position by Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2025, Uthmeier campaigned on public safety, immigration enforcement, and continuing the legal battles that have defined Florida's conservative agenda.
Ingoglia won election as Florida's chief financial officer, holding on to a seat Republicans have controlled for years. The former state senator focused his campaign on government accountability, protecting taxpayer dollars, and overseeing the state's financial operations. Ingoglia defeated democrat Annette Taddeo.
Simpson, a former Florida Senate president and longtime agriculture leader, earned another term as agriculture commissioner. His campaign highlighted support for Florida farmers and ranchers, water quality initiatives, and protection of the state's agricultural industry.
The victories further reinforce Republican control of Florida's statewide elected offices. All three candidates entered Election Day with significant fundraising advantages and strong support from Florida's Republican leadership.
With the election decided, Uthmeier, Ingoglia, and Simpson will continue serving on Florida's Cabinet, one of the state's most influential governing bodies alongside the governor.
