The Tampa Bay Rays (71-46) defeated the Seattle Mariners (56-63) 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Rays swept the series in the Pacific Northwest, and have now won six games in a row after beginning the road trip with a sweep in Colorado.
Yandy Diaz and Chandler Simpson both had four hits to power the offense, which finished with 14 hits on the game. Ian Seymour (9-3, 4.08) pitched six innings in which he allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out seven and walking two to earn the win. Steven Matz worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save.
The Rays now wrap up their West Coast trip when they head to West Sacramento to play the Athletics beginning on Monday night.
