The alert level already being raised on Miami Beach after this afternoon's incident at a Michigan synagogue.
"Anytime something like this happens, we activate our high risk protocol so that we have extra police visibility, protecting Jewish neighborhoods, Jewish institutions, religious institutions," said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner.
Meiner adds with Spring Break in full effect there are already extra local and state police on the island.
The police department confirming there are no credible threats to the city or the region.
The mayor promises if a hate crime happens in his city, they will fully investigate and prosecute as a hate crime which comes with additional penalties.
