Diana Ross To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At American Music Awards

YASSS!!! Diana Ross will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 American Music Awards. 

ABC and Dick Clark Productions made the major announcement on Wednesday (Oct. 18). In a statement issued to the Associated Press, Ross said about the honor: “It took a lifetime to get here, I’m not going anywhere … It’s been a wonderful journey for me of joy and much appreciation.” She will be celebrating her achievement with a fun performance, too!

The Lifetime Achievement Award began being awarded in 2008. Past recipients of it include Ella FitzgeraldMichael JacksonElvis PresleyFrank Sinatra, and more. It's given to stars who “have made truly exceptional contributions to the music industry.”

A true icon, Ross rose to fame when she signed to Motown Records and joined The Supremes. The group would become a staple in music with hits like “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Stop in the Name of Love” and “Where Did Our Love Go.” Ross later left the group and became a solo superstar with smashes like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “I’m Coming Out.”
